Gaza, Trump says Israel and Hamas have agreed to the first phase of the Gaza peace deal, paving the way for a ceasefire. Okay, let's bring you some breaking news here that the mediators say that the Gaza ceasefire agreement has been approved by both sides. This is the post that US President Donald Trump just posted on his Truth Social platform.

A ceasefire agreement has been reached in Gaza. So, here on Alazer, breaking news that the deal has been agreed to. Alazer's Alan Fisher is joining us live from Washington, DC. Alan, so we're waiting on tenterhooks for the news, and the news that Trump has now posted his truth on social media

That we have a deal. Oh, what are you seeing and hearing in the White House? This has been particularly escalating over the past two hours when Donald Trump said in a White House meeting that he had just come off a call with his team that was in Egypt at the Charmil Shack and was encouraged by the progress that had been made.

And thought there would be an announcement in the Middle East that will now be discussed next weekend. It looks like a deal has been outlined. Donald Trump said in the last few minutes on his Twitter account that “I am very proud to announce

Both Israel and Hamas have signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means that all hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its forces to an agreed line, whenever the parties take the first step towards peace, and a strong step will be taken.

“This is a great day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all surrounding countries, and the United States, and we want to thank the mediators in Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event happen.

At no point in the past two years has there been any hope that Donald Trump and his 20-point plan, and the pressure that he has put not only on Hamas and Israel but on others in the region, it seems that the war in Gaza ending.

LIVE: Trump says Israel, Hamas agree on ‘first phase’ of Gaza ceasefire:

Yes. Yes. And Alan, obviously, the executive word or phrase here is the first phase of the peace plan. More details about what parts of Trump’s 20-point plan they’ve agreed on have come out because it’s unlikely.

As you’re saying, everything is settled? Donald Trump will be told the details of what actually happened. Nothing has been made public from Washington, D.C..

But there was a general agreement that the framework proposed by Donald Trump was something he could work on. There were certainly concerns and technical issues about how far and how quickly Israel would withdraw from Gaza.

How quickly would the prisoner and hostage swaps happen?

How quickly would the Palestinians get their people out? Whose name would be on the list? Will there be senior figures that they’ve been talking about for years? What will be the role of Hamas? Will they be completely frozen out?

Will any Middle Eastern country guarantee them a seat at the table? This was all going on in Char Al-Sheikh, and it's clearly a complicated negotiation. It looks like an agreement has now been signed on Wednesday, after 3 days of talks with a lot of big names.

And we're waiting to see what that means for the people of Gaza. Because, of course, when Donald Trump announced his 20-point peace plan, he said he wanted to see an end to the bombing of Gaza. And there's nothing new in Gaza. The attacks continue, the bombings continue,

And the deaths continued. Now there is a peace agreement in the pipeline. Israel will be pressured to stop what it has been doing in Gaza for the past two years and to stop the offensive that has cost more than 65,000 lives.

Allen, and Trump says he will be visiting the Middle East this weekend. How much pressure did he put on Hamas and Israel and the negotiators to actually cross the line on this deal? Well, I don't think there was that much pressure from the president.

I think he was always there, and certainly, there was a consensus among the countries that were represented in the talks at Charl Shack, excuse me, and the broader community that a deal had to be made and agreed to very quickly. Donald Trump was talking about possibly going out Saturday night or Sunday.

Then he changed from a White House statement to saying that he would order the last couple of days and some short period of time on Friday. That was the phrase that was used. He will head to the Middle East. So he suggested that it would be sometime on Friday.

Now that there is a deal, that everyone is in Egypt, the president may head to the Middle East very soon, as early as Friday morning, because, of course, he is very keen to be seen as the driving force behind it.

And to a large extent, he has been. There was no talk of peace talks. The Israelis had killed Hamas negotiators in Tehran and tried to do the same in Doha. There was a concern that everything was closed.

Donald Trump then met with senior officials from Muslim countries and Middle Eastern countries at the United Nations General Assembly. He said that this would probably be his most important meeting. And that came from

Leaders react to agreement on first phase of Trump's Gaza deal:

The outline of the 20-point plan that he officially unveiled on September 29th when Benjamin Netanyahu returned to the White House. So it seems that there has been enough discussion for the US President to be able to announce that the phase-out has been agreed.

And of course, it is all about the arrangement, and we have seen this in many peace processes around the world before. My personal experience in Northern Ireland is that if you do it, we do it, and when you do it, we will follow suit.

So everyone had to agree on that, and it seems that the first phase is in place. What happens next is probably subject to further discussions. But it seems that what Donald Trump said he would deliver very soon after his election in January, and that is a ceasefire in the war in Gaza. Um al-Anam, just one final thought for you before you go

And of course, we will get back to you throughout the night. Trump himself is even talking about visiting Gaza. It hasn't been confirmed yet. It's just something that's been reported. If that happens, Alan, it would be unprecedented.

Wouldn't it?

It certainly would. Oh, that would require a huge security operation. I'm not entirely sure the Secret Service would go along with that idea to protect Donald Trump. He would go with the Israeli Defense Forces, given that he said in his statement,

"Both sides will be treated equally and fairly." Sorry. It can't be optics. But then, Donald Trump has never been much concerned with optics, which can be read differently than everyone else.

It would be a huge logistical and security operation. While it is possible that foreign journalists are not allowed in Gaza,

Trump says Israel and Hamas sign off on first phase of Gaza ceasefire plan:

Israel has arranged accommodation for those it thinks will help get their story out and has allowed journalists in under a large security fence. So it is possible that Donald Trump will extend this and that Donald Trump will be welcomed by the Palestinians because after two years of continuous war.

A US president seems to have finally delivered because we've had many false dawns over the last two years, and it appears that there is going to be a new one in Gaza tomorrow.
